To the ancient Greeks, love meant erotic love. The idea that charity, philanthropy or caring for one’s neighbor as oneself were also kinds of love came later with Christianity. Nowadays the term “Platonic love” is used to mean love between a man and a woman which contains no sexual element. (Greek, eros- sexual love)

上课每次讲到这个erotic，本人似乎总是饶有兴味...喜欢讲这个词与porn, lewd, obscene等区别，喜欢讲地铁站的内衣广告，（以前是讲得学生不好意思，现在是讲到这里学生看得我不好意思...）还喜欢举泰国这个例子：the erotic and exotic image projected by Thailand... 难得的头韵与尾韵。
