 百人一首

通常は藤原定家の撰による『小仓百人一首』のことをさします。百人一首は平安时代（794～1185）の歌人を中心に、鎌仓时代（1185～1333）初期までの优れた歌人の和歌を１首ずつ、合わせて100首选び出したもので、江戸时代（1603～1867）以後、歌ガルタとして広く行き渡りました。歌の内容は恋歌が43首と圧倒的に多く、次に四季の歌が32首あります。作者は男性が79人、女性が21人で、恋爱感情や自然や季节に対する想いを日本人独特の繊细な表现で表しており、古典文学の代表的作品としても名高いものとなっています。また、正月には欠かせない游びの１つでもあります。

Hyakunin-isshu (The hundred poems by one hundred poets)

This generally refers to the poetry anthology entitled "Ogura hyakunin-isshu,"compiled by FUJIWARA no Teika(Sadaie). It gathered 100 waka--the classical Japanese poem, specifically in this case Poem in 31 syllables--one each by the most outstanding poets from the Heian Period(794-1185) and the early years of the Kamakura Period(1185-1333). From the time of the Edo Period(1603-1867), this poetry anthology was widely spread and used as the poem cards. The overwhelmingmajority--43 selections--are love poems, followed by seasonal poems--32 selections. 79 of the poets are male, 21 female, and they express thoughts of love, nature and the seasons with a refinement unique to the Japanese people. It has become well-known as the representative work of classical Japanese literature. It's one of the essential game of New Year.
